Armando has been flying ultralights since the early nineteen-nineties and instructing since 1998.   His students have ranged in age from twelve to eighty-two.  He has logged over 8,000 hours of flight time.  In 2004, he flew an intercontinental flight from the United States to South America, starting in his home base of Orlando, Florida and island hopping the Caribbean chain to his final destination of  Venezuela.  In 2005, he bought his lastest ultralight, “the Mosquito” and flew from Houston to the Sun and Fun Air Show in Lakeland, Florida camping along the Mississippi River on his way.  After the air show, he packed up his new aircraft and moved to Hawaii, flying on Kauai and Oahu before deciding  to settle here in Kona.    Last year, his flight of the Hawaiian Island chain was featured in Hana Hou, the in-flight magazine of Hawaiian Airlines.    (Click photo below to read the full article)

He feels privileged to be able to do what he loves for a living and to share that love with others.  “When a student takes his first solo flight I feel like a proud parent with their child.  That thrill never goes away.   I love to teach – whether it's in the air or in the water.  ( Armando is also a master diver )   Recently, I taught an adult friend how to swim – that was just as rewarding for me as anything else I have taught."
